Simplex 4606-9101 LCD Annunciator

The Simplex 4606-9101 is a remote LCD Annunciator designed to mirror fire alarm control panel information at a location away from the main panel. It allows building staff and emergency personnel to monitor and control system status from a convenient entry point, like a lobby or guard station.

Description

Electrical Specifications
  • Operating Voltage: 18 to 32 VDC (supplied by the main fire alarm control panel).
  • Normal Operating Current: 110 mA with the LCD backlighting turned on.
  • Battery Standby Current: 65 mA. The LCD backlighting automatically powers down after 30 seconds of switch inactivity to preserve battery power.
  • Alarm Current: 140 mA maximum (occurs when the backlighting is active and the local tone-alert piezo is sounding).
Communication & Wiring Requirements
  • Protocol/Data Line: Communicates over the N2 format external annunciator communication line.
  • Data Wiring: Requires a single twisted, shielded pair (STP) or unshielded twisted pair (UTP) depending on local environment noise. Conductor sizes range from 18 AWG to 12 AWG.
  • Power Wiring: Requires two 18 AWG to 12 AWG wires plus a dedicated Earth Ground connection routed directly to each metal electrical box for transient suppression.
  • Maximum Distance: Up to 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) from the control panel using 18 AWG conductors.
  • Line Termination: Requires a 100 Ω, 1/2 W line matching resistor harness (Model 4081-9011) at the end-of-line device.
Environmental Limitations
  • Operating Temperature: 32°F to 120°F (0°C to 49°C).
  • Operating Humidity: Up to 93% Relative Humidity (RH), non-condensing at 100°F (38°C).
